Annual Service required for insurance??

After reading a recent post (which I can't now find) someone had found in their insurance 'small print' the requirement for an annual service. This got me a bit worried as I prefer to do my own checks/maintenance so I thought I had better check my own insurance.
I couldn't find anything specific but there was a line stating...."The Caravan is in a good state of repair, and will be so maintained"
I don't know whether my own servicing would be considered ok in the event of a claim but it's something I will be getting in black and white in a couple of weeks when I renew the policy.
Just wondering if anyone else had come across this in their policy, there seems to be more and more in the small print these days that I'm sure would be used to wriggle out of a claim!! (I have already brought up CRIS registration in a previous thread that a lot of people were unaware was lurking in the depths of their policy)

I suppose if you were to make an insurance claim for theft, the loss adjuster would be more concerned with determination of value rather than whether the corner steadies had been greased during the last 12 months.

It could be a different matter if your rig was involved in a road accident and the insurance co. might well need to see evidence of road-worthiness.
And if your van caught fire due to, say, a gas appliance fault, he'd want to see evidence of gas system maintenance.

There's nothing to say that a competent owner can't service their own van, but to satisfy an insurance claim such competency might well have to be proved - and in the event of a claim against you, possibly in front of a chap in a rather fetching wig.

John is gas system maintenance required to be carried out by someone with the correct qualifications? and is there a maximum time limit between services?

You are quite at liberty to carry out your own gas system and appliances maintenance and servicing, but in the event of an accident or insurance claim you will possibly be asked to prove competency.

I'm registered with the ACoP Scheme through course attendance which is proof of my competency, but this only allows me to work on privately owned (and not hired-out) LAVs (Leisure Accommodation Vehicles).

As per appliance manufactures' stated service intervals.
