Hi
We have just purchased a new troll 540GT and will take possession of it in a couple of weeks, I would like some advice re what I need to buy, as it is our first venture into caravanning. Always been camping previously

In particular I would like to know about waste disposal, gas, water carrying, security etc and any other useful tips

Try and be a bit more specific and us members will assist. I assume you have an Aqua roll 40 litre for your external water supply .You can also buy two light weight gas bottles which should keep you going for a good while . Waste disposal?

Most of it will be very much like camping, you will need something to catch waste water and carry it to the disposal point, (it comes out of a pipe under the van)

An electric hook up cable + if going on the Continent a 2 pin adapter, a small tool kit as screws have a nasty habit of coming undone, spanner for changing gas bottles and connecting BBQ, cork screw, torque wrench, hammer if taking an awning. there is a thread on here about window locks as its very easy to open the windows from the outside, Window Security

Welcome - as regards waste water, the Fiamma 23 litre http://www.towsure.com/fiamma-caravan-an...-roll-tank-grey is very good.

It is much smaller than the big wastemaster and a lot easier to store/travel. A lot depends on your water habits. As you're ex campers you'll be used to working light. We used ours with our MH and normally reckoned to empty every other day before it got full. That was just washing up and washing - no shower or any other use.

I did find that if it was actually brim full the wheels used to distort slightly while towing to grey waste point.

Asking what you need is a big question. It depends what you get up to on holiday!
I'm guessing you already have an electrical hook up for your tent, water carriers etc.
Sit in your wonderful new van and imagine what's missing for you.

.
We just use an ordinary bucket under the van for the waste water. Depending on when you use the van you might want to consider a small electric heater to be used when you're on site EHU. Plastic storage boxes can be useful inside the van but don't go mad and buy lots of stuff until you have been away and found out what you need. Essentials are matches and corkscrew.
