Where are you going? If it's very hot, unlikely in June, just go up into the mountains. We haven't been down south but we had some lovely hot weather last summer and we found that she stayed nice and cool. The pop top makes all the difference and with windows everywhere you get a lovely breeze flowing through.

I vote for a 230v mains fan, for our trip to Spain and Portugal last year I took a couple of he suction type 12v car fans, absolutely useless! Too noisey and not much air movement in the 'van. We bought a cheap desk fan from a supermarket, chopped off the euro plug and cannibalised a U.K. one from the travel kettle, it was a lifesaver! We could sleep 😴

We had no problems with the fridge, used exclusively on 230v, it stayed nice and cool.

Should always carry a spare UK plug.

Better still, take two and on your first European stop buy a Euro 4 socket extension cable. Swap the plug for a UK one and you've got a bank of euro sockets always available in the van. We also bought a spare European plug.

Hi Islay

We're going to spend a week in the Verdon Gorge area and then a week around the Luberon area.

I wasn't worried about the fridge side of things but more about how comfortable it is to sleep in if it gets hot. Our current caravan (white box) does get really warm evening with the windows open.

Heat rises look at leaving vents open in the pop top.

Hi Randa,

Done both of those things now, Euro sockets and the spare plug! In my defence it was our first foreign foray with a caravan and even I can't think of everything 😀

All's well that ends well (and cool )

Don't need to defend yourself mate. I wasn't having a go, just passing on information to everyone

Like you, we were stuck in a similar predicament in 2011 but decided on the extension cable way out.
