Awning question

Hi all, I asked this question the other day on the FB page but didn't get any replies. Perhaps I'll have more luck here.
We have a Unico Verona for our 320GT. If we replace our van with a 420GT with a low profile (is that pre 2010?) and move the gadgets that hold the horizontal roof bars in place, accepting that the side of the awning will bisect the side rear window, will it fit? Considering the cost of the awning
it might be a deal breaker as far as a bigger Erica is concerned! Sally

Hi Sally. The "low profile' roof you refer to is on post circa 2010 models. That means the awning rail is approx. 60mm higher off the ground and the roof curve above is flatter.

Is your 320 a pre-2010 model and is the 420 you are considering a pre or post 2010 model?

Not being an owner of a Unico but looking at the pics in the gallery, as you say, you'll have the problem of the Familia length awning cutting across the rear side window of the 420 which might create a drafty seal down the side of the van. Also, most 420s appear to have a locker box under that window although they would be an optional extra.

All in all, I think that it will fit dependent on the height issue, but it won't be as snug as it is on the Familia.

Can anyone else add to this and also give their views on the height issue, if in fact, there is one?

Hi Randa, we have a 2003 320GT so if there's a possibility of using the Unico awning on a Triton, we would look for the pre 2010. It's just a twinkle in my eye at the moment but we are looking to update the car in the next few months and are looking at cars that will tow a 420 weight. Just in case. You never know I might win something significant on the Premium Bonds and then I won't worry about wasting the money spent on the awning!

Can't help with .......... will it fit ............. but provided the Triton you get is not 2009 the rail heights should be the same.
