Black marks on Windows from perished seals- removal

Hi folks- I'm sure that I read a good thread on here a while back about 'how to remove black marks from Windows that have been caused by old perished window seals' or 'caused by people cleaning the seals with inappropriate products which results in the rubber seals sticking to the Windows' We've bought a new-old eriba with this problem but I can't find the thread. Windows aren't stuck n the damaged seals have been replaced but there are horrible black marks around the edge of the Windows. Sad times for our pan. So I'm wondering if someone could point us in the right direction on how to clear this gunk off?

All the best

Be careful not to attempt removal of marks with meths or white spirit as it can damage the plastic.
I would try neat car window cleaner, then a fine metal or car polish if need be.

I have used brasso wadding to remove scratches, I would have thought I may also remove the black marks. Just try a small patch.
The link below has the tips for removing marks, some use toothpaste as well.

Just another thought. If sticky try WD40 spray. This is excellent at removing the sticky residue left when labels are removed from new purchases.
