Kamba pro air 340 awning for Eriba Triton 420

Help. Just bought a 2005 Triton 420 and the above new awning. I cannot get it to stay in the channel as I feed it in. It keeps pulling out of the entry point. Anyone else have this trouble? It appears the awning piping is fairly narrow compared to the caravan awning channel.

Have now tried again with my sister and daughter, 3 girls and a can of awning lubricant, and it was threaded on in 10 minutes. We used a higher step so we were above the rail, and fed it down into the rail. This way we were able to maintain its position in the rail. It does look as though it will pull out even when fully threaded so I have bought the Isabella safety clips as advised on the forum. We took out the front of the awning to lighten the load and used a table to also help support the load. I'm confident now that 2 of us can do this. It just shouldn't be this difficult!!!

Hello and Welcome to Eribaworld's Kampa FunPark.
I hope you really enjoy your new-to-you Triton - good choice!

The 430/Triton combination should be free of most of the horrors apart from slight pull out of the keder strip/beading at either end. If the awning came from AL they may have already modified it - you'd find that the beading does not go all the way up to the corner joint with the rear arch beam and the side beams.

However, if it is loose all the way along and just slips out anywhere then that may be a new variation. The beading on the Kampa should be 6mm as indeed should your Triton awning rail. we're not talking micrometric accuracy here. The next size up is 8mm.

This is going to sound daft but if you can, without too much pain, try sliding the awning into the rail on the other side of the van then that will tell you whether your van's rail has perhaps been worn or stretched over the years - perhaps with an overly large keder strip? If it has the same sloppy fit - and we are talking pulls out anywhere, then either the keder beading is the wrong size, or summat's up with your awning rail.

If it is too wide somebody may have used the wrong end of an awning rail spreader at some time.

Can't help on the awning debate I'm afraid.
