Pop Top Bolts.

Whilst cleaning my pop top I noticed that the washers under the bolts that hold the scissor mechanism , were cracked and in two cases bit were missing. Does anyone know what size these washers are or would a bath washer do, with some sealant underneath ? TIA. :)

I recall the bolts are an M6. You can or at least could order the original washers. The replacement I fitted to my last eriba were nylon, about 25mm o/d and 6mm i/d, 3 or 4 mm thick. I also replaced the bolts with stainless ones. Undo and replace them one at a time.

Thanks for that. I had already decided to undo bolts one at a time to avoid throwing the roof away into next doors garden :)

I did ask about the bolt washers at AL during the Spring Meet, but the guy from the workshop didn't know if they were available :(

All done, new bolts fitted and on the advice of my local bolts and washer's man, have used 3/4 inch tap washers as they are somewhat more flexible. Now..what's next ? Herzim strip, I think. :)

If your doing a lot of herzim order from Jandi, also put it in a bucket of warm water before inserting it

Give Jandi a ring first and ask them to price you up some of the OEM strip as fitted at the factory. It isn't the same as Herzim. It's also an absolute doddle to fit. Once I'd worked out what was the best thing to use to put it in (a car trim removal tool), I zipped a new length round the awning rail of our Troll in ten minutes tops.
Don't even think about getting it from AL. I'm reluctant to say this, but you might as well call a spade a spade - like so many of their spare parts it's well overpriced.
Their strip was getting on for four times what Jandi charged me.
And while I'm beefing about the cost of spares from AL, I noticed the other day that they sell replacement Hella end outline marker lights (the red and clear ones) for twenty four quid a pop. You can find them on eBay for less than a quarter of that. Same ones.
I appreciate that the way they price their spares is entirely their business, but those two examples demonstrate two things. Firstly, don't buy from them without asking Jandi first, and secondly, it's always worth checking to see if the part you're after is a generic one (i.e. non-Eriba specific) before coughing up.
In my relatively limited experience there are very few fittings which aren't more widely and more cheaply (often much more cheaply) available if you're prepared to do a bit of research.
In the past I've ordered various bits and bobs from eBay sellers in both France and Germany if they weren't available here and still saved a ton of dosh.

When I replaced the scissor bolts on my Pan, like you I used stainless mushroom headed bolts with a washer face, 25mm x 1.8mm x M6 nylon washers, but in addition I also used M6 stainless penny washers in support of the nylon washers. I also used a similar set up on the remainder of the roof after the fibre glass roof detached from the pop top (8 bolts to hold the ceiling to the roof). All bolts/washers were sealed with Sikaflex 512 and installed with A2 Nylock nuts. Following the debond the roof still looks wobbly but it all still works.
