Tyre Help Please

It's time to replace the tyre's on the Triton 185/ 70/ R13 (T) (86) . This is what is on there now. This is also written in the Eriba Amiga text on tyre's. When I spoke to Blackcircle Tyre's they said that these tyre's were not suitable for a caravan and that they where car tyre's , what I should have are 185/70/ R13 (N) (106). Now that has really thrown me, there is only £1 difference in price so they are not advising me to gain financially . So this is my problem , do I take their advice or do I stick to the book? Blackcircle are one of the biggest tyre dealers in the country so I feel that they must know what is right or wrong plus this advice came from their office not from a chap on the works floor. All thoughts would be appreciated .

The 86 rating on your tyres is for a max recommended axle load of 954kg and a max permissible of 1060kg. I am guessing your Triton has a 1000kg axle.
As such you are probably pushing your look with these, but to go up to a 106 rating with max recommended axle load of 1710kg and a max permissible of 1900kg would not be advisable as the tyre wall needs some give. Blackcircles are good but he is probably thinking you have a big wobbly white box.
If you could get them, a 96 rating giving a max recommended axle load of 1278kg and a max permissible of 1420kg would be good.

Having said that my 1200kg axle Triton is supplied new with 185 R 14 C 102 max recommended load 1530gg and max permissible load 1700kg. I think this is a bit overkill.

The attached pdf is worth printing off and keeping.

Tom I went through this last year and the topic ran to 6 pages

I settled for this size

Zitat
Been and ordered 3 new tyres

165/ R13C 94/92 Q

So load index 670/630 and speed index 99Mph

Can't remember the make off hand but am told they are a good mid range tyre for caravans and trailers.

should cost about £55.50 each fitted.

Well I am still pondering what to do, now in my search for information I have been told that If I use a different tyre to that specified by the manufacturer I would have to inform my insurer, as some insurers class a change of tyre as a modification, and had I not informed them I could find myself uninsured. It gets harder and harder and information is very hard to come by as no one wants to put themselves on the line.
