On the Practical Caravan website there is news that Hymer are planning to celebrate Eriba Touring's 60th birthday, with a '60th Special Edition' version. They will be available in four layouts: Familia 310, Triton 430, Troll 530 and 542 Touring from September 2017. They go on to say that....

"The most distinctive feature of these special-edition vans is the retro-inspired two-tone paintwork, Carrara White over Crystal Silver, teamed with smart-looking alloy wheels with a complimentary metallic finish.

Other extras included in this special-edition offering are two extra reading lights, an externally accessed locker at the rear, a stone deflector, a pair of utensil bags, redesigned cushions, a mosquito net, a 30-litre water tank, a sink cover with a chopping board and a spare wheel with a bracket.

White, high-gloss overhead lockers with chrome handles also feature, while the worktop and table have an easy-care finish.

The fixed-rear-double-bed Familia 310, Triton 430 and Troll 530 models, and the fixed-rear-twin-single Troll 542 give customers a choice of four layouts".

I can't see any details on AL but I have mailed them to see if they have received any further information from Hymer as yet.

Sure does, but only for those limited model/layouts. I think the white lockers look great.

I don't think the images are actually of the new special edition versions. They seem to be the GT models with silver sides plus the interiors of the European versions?

Never mind chopping boards, utensil bags and redesigned cushions - what is interesting (to me, anyway) is Al-Ko's AAA (AL-KO Automatic Adjustment) brake system.

And about time, too!

I don't know what effect this will have regards to servicing the brakes, but I guess linkage adjustment (handbrake/brake rod/balance bar) may still be necessary.

I've created a post on the MCEA's Engineering Forum to see if anyone can provide any real-life information on the system, and I'll pass on any relevant info here.

That would allow access under the rear seat without having to lift the cushions etc up.

Its possible the locker door could be at the back as all models are either fixed bed or full width at the back in the case of the troll 542 so rear access to the under bed area could be from a back end locker.

Thank you for your email regarding the 60th edition Eriba Tourings. The Special edition models should be coming off production nearer the end of the year – we will be looking to get a physical example as soon as possible to have on display here at Automotive Leisure. We have been given a sneak preview of what they will look like and the upholstery options available however I am unsure as to when the images and the models will be released and marketed like our current New options. I can get production dates for you with prices etc for Monday once I can liaise with my sales manager and log into the Hymer system."

So will hopefully have a better idea later this week.

I had a look one the pictures in the forum which show no framework under the rear window ! So theoretically it may be possible ?
Maybe even a retro fit ??? Maybe get a frame and door frame from a breaker ?? Sounds good to me .

Personally I think the white lockers are ghastly. They look really cheap. The exterior looks like a "proper" Eriba. Each to their own.

An update from AL who confirmed that the special edition models are due to come off the production line sometime in November/December, whilst the normal GT models are expected to roll of production some time in mid October. SE models will be fixed bed only and actual arrival dates are yet to be confirmed.

Both the 530GT and the 530 SE model (including their recommended upgrade specification) will cost £22,690.00 (fixed bed) and £23,230.00 (double dinette).

The main differences with the SE model is the exterior finish which is similar to the 2012 models, with a dark grey/silver bottom half and a white top half. The interior has a dark oak wood finish with white cupboard doors and as standard it will come with an on-board 30L fresh water storage tank. AL are going to try to pull together a full specification list to include the full SE specification (as standard), further retro fit/options and images in the next few days. They also mentioned that an actual display model is not expected at AL until the end of the year.
