Ready to go.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)Following a previous post I thought I would just share a few thoughts now that we are gaining Eribaexperience..
Well we have quite a few hundred Km under the wheels of the little Eriba at this stage and I must say we are loving it. I suppose one’s impressions are flavored by previous experiences of camping/ caravanning. We came up through the ranks of Frame Tents to a Folding Camper to the Eriba. We have never before had a caravan. Our 2 x offspring, now both adults, have a real love for the outdoors and would never go a summer without time spent ‘under the stars. We took both of them on camping holidays since they were babies. Most years to France. Camping for children is like living in a playground and they get to meet other kids, from completely different backrounds, which is a great experience. I remember our daughter at three years of age making friends with a little French girl of similar age. Neither could speak a word to the other, but children’s play is international. They didn’t need to talk, just laugh. Pity some adults can’t learn from them !
Well I did it again. I will eventually actually split my head open. I will have to try to remember just how low the top of the door is. Or fit padding as suggested. And another thing..the table stows under the bed at night but sticks our sufficiently to give your toe a really first class stubbing . . and that’s not just a maybe. We haven’t tackled the ‘Yawning’ again. Next time maybe. Fortune favours the Brave so yes, perhaps next time.
Dried in Kamikaze Flies! It’s bad enough trying to clean them off the front of the car but off the White Roof of the Eriba ! I figure they must have been on a diet of dark red cellulose paint, tinged with dark grey. A small cover for just above the windows and the top / front of the roof would be the job. Just chatting today about a possible French expedition next year. Meanwhile, a tour of our West Coast this July is on the cards, with also as many weekends away as possible. Hopefully a bit of nice weather. Really delighted with our choice , the Eriba is exceeding our expectations by far. Thanks to the forum members too for the wealth of info which makes owning and maintaining one all the better. Finally, photo of ready to go home from Glen of Aherlow / Tipperary Camping attached. More anon.

Instead of putting the table under the bed at night, we just stand ours against the van door. When we have the full awning up, we leave the beds made and eat outside with table clipped into side rail. When not using the awning we put both beds (Duvalays) onto one side of the bed (seat and seat back flat) and return the other side to normal seating configuration. This saves having to roll and stow the bedding every night which is a p i t a.
You could use a length of pipe insulation clipped over the top of the door opening to prevent the 'Eriba kiss'

I put the table across the front seats of the car, on the basis that I won't be driving when in bed!
Cheers Mark
Same with mine, if I have the awning up the table stays in there fixed to the side of the van., with no awning and when the bed is up it goes on the back seat of the car.
When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!

Probably not relevant as we have the luxury of a two table Eriba Troll but after many years, we have decided to leave the bigger, heavier table at home.
This year we purchased one of these:-Adjustable leg table and they work a treat.
Yes they, because the first one they sent was broken as the leg bracket has pulled out of the underside of the table top. No quibble, they replaced it and told me to do what I liked with the broken one so I fixed it.
Good cheap table. very pleased.

It is a common misconception among newcomers that the table is used as part of the large bed support but I have yet to see an Eriba where this is the case, in my Triton 430 the dinette table at the front does indeed make up a central support for the single bed and there is a slot alongside the wardrobe to store the big table in the upright position.
However it now resides in the garage.
Try going out of the door backwards ..... with your head tilted forward a bit your foot should be on the step before your head reaches the door frame ......... in this position your head should be lower down and thus miss the top of the frame.
Worst case scenario is a second lump on the back of the head

When we first had our Triton we were under this misconception and used the table to make up the bed as we always had done in our previous caravan. Margaret then complained that in the mornings she got up with back ache as the bed sections didn't fit flush. So we bought camping sleeping rolls to make the bed flat. It was only when we were chatting to Hob at Corby that he told us and then demonstrated how to make up the bed without the table. Since then not had any problem sleeping and no more back aches.
