Hi All

New member and owner as of today. Looking underneath my new purchase I have just noticed rust on the frame (see pic if attached). Is this anything to be concerned about. Wasn't expecting rust so soon on a 2012 model. Thought it was galvanized, although it looks shiny in places

That definitely needs looking at, I'm sorry to say that could be through in a couple of years unless something is done soon.
If you bought it from a dealer I would take back and ask for repair.

If you do a search there is a thread on here about getting this sort of thing repaired, so don't panic yet, it can be fixed.

Hopefully it's just surface rust where the protective coating has been compromised, if it was mine I would clean it back use some rust killer, paint it with Hammerite and then cover it with Hammerite undearseal which has added waxoyl.

Thanks for the replies. Just been looking further at it. Mostly bad at the front where the water drains off the roof and down. Actually looks worst in the photo. The front end is worst, and the sides. The back is completely clear. Just curious as the front and side look as if they have been coated. The metal looks shiny underneath the black coating, almost looks stainless and not galvanised. Another job to do on top of my other list of DIY :). Thought I'd escaped such buying a newer model.
