An update on hot water problem

At the end of March I started a thread "Have you ever felt slow" which related to the problems we were having with getting our water heater to work properly on our Troll. We got lots of helpful suggestions from JohnE, and it was interesting that JamieB experienced a similar problem of getting hot water and then losing it. In the end we just lived without hot water.

However our van has just had its first service through Adventure Leisure and it was the problem that JohnE diagnosed at the start - there had been no in-line non-return valve fitted. A £4 valve fitted later and we have oodles of lovely hot water.

Although to be honest after having lived without hot water for nearly a year I am no longer sure how important it is! Oh well.

Ours is now also working after having a non return valve fitted at the dealer and an element of user error on my part, by not fully closing one of the valves under the bed.

We have just come back from Glastonbury today and having hot water in a field was amazing!

Are these all new (ish) Eriba's? Only my new 540 had no hot water either and when I took it to Lowdhams they diagnosed and fitted a new non-return valve which solved the problem. Unfortunately by then the Truma heater element had burnt out because water hadn't been getting into, or staying in, the boiler. Luckily both were fixed FOC under warranty.
As I've said before; (personal taste) give me a newish Eriba in silver with all mod-cons BUT give me the vintage build quality please!

we got ours last August. I would have thought that as these were factory fitted boilers that Hymer should have fitted one as a matter of course.Obviously not.

Is the non return valve fitted before or after the heater?

could you tell me where the non return valve is preventing the water returning? I'm guessing the original water source must be lower than the boiler?
