Wheel not vertical

2002 Troll 540:

I've come home today from a weekend away and noticed in the rear view mirror that the n/s wheel appears to run at a slight angle. I've never noticed it before but that's to say it hasn't been like it since I bought it a couple of years ago. I've jacked it up and it appears sound. No play anywhere and revolves happily. ON arriving home, I checked the tyre temps and there was no difference between the 2 wheels. It was serviced last year and no comment was made but, of course, it either may not have been noticed or hadn't appeared then..

My engineer is away until next week and I know he's not taking bookings until September at the moment, anyway. As I plan 10 days in France late August, I'd like this resolved or at least had my mind put at rest before I do that trip. It's an ALKO 1000kg axle, I think B100 model.. The offset from vertical throws the bottom of the wheel out by about an inch, I'd say..

Any thoughts, anyone?

All checked and everything is tight. I've spent a bit more time on it since my posting and, although there clearly is a slight difference between the vertical alignment off the wheels, I'm starting to wonder whether it an optical illusion caused by looking in the mirror on the passenger side...

If your passenger mirror is like mine it will be convex which tends to distort slightly.

The tyres are still quite new, so show no wear patterns yet and the image I see in the mirror is constant, so eliminates any vagary of the road surface. No, the more I think about it, like Poptop, i'm more convinced I'm dealing with an optical illusion due to the nature of the mirror and can relax.. Teach me to do a bit more research before posting hurriedly in future!

Thanks for all the responses..

That could well be the answer. I often wonder about the driver's side wheel on our Troll but it always checks out as being OK.
