I started looking for an all brass padlock, after I wiped the one on my sparewheel carrier off
when I put the caravan away last. That was all brass, then I thought do Abus do a Marine padlock.
Yes they do!

I bought this 'Master' brand, all-brass padlock from B&Q for about £8 in September.

I managed to catch my padlock on the camber of the road whilst putting the van on my drive, it didn't look to bad but when I tried to remove the lock it was jammed. I had to hacksaw it off, my new lock is now bagged up and taped to the carrier upside down.

I like to pop my top when I go on holiday

I like the odd glass of vino, but not at 9 in the morning and not while I'm driving

I found an Abus all brass padlock in the garage, which I fitted after giving it a little lubrication.
I covered the key hole with duck tape and also taped it upright and upside down to clear the deck.
The cradle still grounds but the padlock is up out of the way now.

I had to remove my spare wheel last week, what a performance. Needless to say when I put it back I just slotted in a split pin to hold the frame together, as well as the safety chain. If anyone wants to go to the trouble of stealing mine they are welcome to it as long as they 1/2 an hour spare to remove it
