Please could anyone let me know which model of truma heater I have. As I am thinking of doing the electric conversion on my truma gas heater the only numbers I can find are on the inside. The numbers are S 353 - 15084467 do those numbers make any sense to anyone on here please. The model of the caravan is Eriba Troll GT 2004.
Thank you Steve.

Is it like this one fitted in our 2003 Triton, Steve?

If so it is a Trumatic S 3002 P (with a Piezo-electric igniter), an S 3002 (auto battery ignition) or an S 5002 (auto battery ignition). I'm not sure what the difference is between the latter two but the 5002 is heavier and has a higher output than the 3002.
I'm pretty sure ours is an S 3002.
Hope this helps.

Higha Aaron thank you once again it is very similar to the one I have. The Piezo igniter knob on mine is on the left hand side as you look at the fire. This is throwing me a bit because all the ones I have seen pictures of have the igniter on the right.

These heaters can be configured with the controls/ignitors on the left or the right, and the Truma Ultraheat will fit your S3002 whichever way it's configured.
The reason for the different orientations is to allow the gas burner (mounted under the heater below floor level) to clear obstructions such as chassis members, etc.

Thank you JohnE that's sorted that problem out I am at the meet next week so not a lot of time. I will probably leave until I return as we are on holiday in the Troll for 3 weeks stopping one week at Stratford. I don't want to cock it up with little time to sort.
Just for info I bought the battery you recommended the Varta LFD90.
Thank you Steve

Steve,
As promised in yesterday's PM, here are a couple of pictures of the electrics in our van which may be of assistance.

Above you can see the orange cable that disappears into the rear of the BIP unit where it is connected via crimped on spade connectors to the live, neutral and earth rails. There are quite a few vacant slots available.

The second picture shows the switched fused box with neon indicator from which the heater takes its supply.

You will need one of these for crimping on the connectors.

The final picture shows the location of the remote thermostat sensor right at the bottom underneath the fire. I used cable ties to attach it to the existing gas fire thermostat as the thermostat/control switch supplied with the kit will give spurious readings due to its location in the wall of the wardrobe which contains the fire and heats up when it is in use.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

I'm no electrical expert, Steve, so best refer to someone like JohnE who knows what he's talking about.
The element in the heater is 2KW max so when switched to its highest setting it will draw just over 8 amps of current. The installation instructions say to fit at least a 10A and preferably a 16A fuse so I used the 13A fuse that came with the switch.
The remote thermostat sensor simply plugs into a small jack socket at the rear of the element unit. I seem to recall my thermostat not working once and all that had happened was that the jack plug had vibrated loose (or had not been fully pushed in during the installation). I was able to gain access to push it back into the socket by removing the wardrobe floor panel.

Thank you Brian, I think I am all ready to go now I have got the fire out, back box secured under locker, neon light fuse box ready crimpers and connections sorted. Just waiting for the kit to arrive. I bought the remote thermostat as they have come down in price and JohnE says there is not much in the way of a saving if he made one.
