Pop top popped up!

We picked up our 1991 Triton today, love it and we are very happy. Going away on Tuesday for our first trip.

One small issue though, whilst driving it home, the pop top came up. On having a good look, the two roof catches at the front are noticeably much looser than the two at the back. Can we tighten them? Replace them? We are planning to strap the roof down with luggage straps on Tues as a short term fix. Can you buy spares and what are they called? Have searched on eBay and no luck. I've also had a bit of a look on here but not found an answer.

Thanks

Indigo

If the rear catches are ok you could always swap them round so the stronger catches are at the front until the new ones arrive.

Having read this a number of times, Indigo, I'm still not 100% sure of which part of the catches that you are referring to other than the ones located at the front obviously. Is it the section that is actually screwed to the roof that you are referring to or the section that pulls down with overcoming of a spring and with the tightening bezel at the bottom?

It's often the case that although having rotated and tightened the bezel everything feels secure a few more turns of the bezel are possible.

"tightening bezel at the bottom?" Unless I'm misreading your post Alan, I don't think older vans have this.

The tightening screw on the bottom of the front roof clamps was introduced with new lower roof profile. So is not present on older vans. However it may be possible to fit the newer ones in place of the older.
