Hi, does anyone know of a standard spare wheel for a 2005 540 GT, i.e. One that could be obtained second hand?

Best wishes,

Andrew

Somebody will be on in a minute with the exact size, but you could google caravan breakers and see what they come up with.

Hi, not sure what you mean? Does this mean I need a special type of wheel or to carry the correct bolts?

Thank you.

If you have alloys fitted to the van and buy/have a spare then this is usually a steel wheel.
It MUST have a different set of bolts for fixing it. They differ in length and the profile under the head on the meeting surfaces.

Just to confuse matters, for me anyway, the steel wheels I fit to my car in the winter take the same bolts as the alloy wheels fitted in the summer.

Steel wheels need studs with a round seat (the part of the stud in contact with the wheel) whereas alloys need a tapered seat. That's because alloy wheels are thicker, so the contact area needs to be deeper, hence the taper.

Most vans with alloys have a steel spare, so it's normal to carry a set of round seat studs (also known as spherical seat studs) to use with the steel spare if you have a puncture. If all your wheels are steel, you won't need a spare set of studs.

Steel wheels for Trolls like yours are usually 5.5Jx14, 5 stud. They aren't difficult to get hold of. It's a very common size.

I think sir you will find that they are bolts not studs, studs were fitted to the hubs and nuts held the wheels on, not very common nowadays.
