Does anyone know what our 2004 Eriba Troll 550 GT's maximum and minimum noseweight should be please? We would really appreciate an early reply.
Thank you

I believe 25kg min and 75kg max, although the AKS1300 coupling if fitted may be rated to 100kg.

Anybody care to check my maths please?

The noseweight is directly proportional to the distance from the tow hitch to the the central pivot (the axle). Putting it crudely but accurately, for zero nose weight the draw bar would have to hang directly below the axis ie vertical. For half noseweight, the draw bar would have to be at 45 degrees etc etc.

My illustration is as if the the hitch was actually on the floor, a most unlikely scenario but extremes help to prove a point.

My calculations are based on approximate dimensions of my Triton but I think adequately show the point that the exact level of a caravan is largely insignificant when measuring nose weight............but then I'm just an engineer ;)

You need to consider the manufacturer's stated maximum nose weight for the caravan (usually on a sticker on the front fairing stating min and max figures) AND the tow bar manufacturer's stated maximum nose weight.

You should then aim to achieve the lower of these two figures for maximum stability when towing.

I guess I just reacted to Randa France's link that seems with some posters obssesed with the caravan being level to measure noseweight.

I agree with Aaron Calder about how to assess the correct noseweight but not to be to worried about level when trying to actually measure it. :)

I regularly handle 25kg bags of cement , animal feed etc - so I'm reasonably well calibrated.
Lift the nosewheel off the ground..... heavy = 25kg, very heavy = 50kg and ****** heavy = too much.
