Locked out!
Yes we were.
All car keys and van keys inside the Eriba and all windows closed and locked.
The underbed locker was open but neither of us could lift the bed from under it.
Fortunately a younger and more flexible friend could get into the locker on his back and push the bed up thus gaining access into the van and let us in.
He tried to claim salvage rights!
I always intended to hide a spare key somewhere and it was a success. Well the hiding part was.
Sometime later I remembered where it was 😡.
It seems that this has happened to others and I have identified the probable cause.
The locking lever on the inside of the door is supposed to locate at the horizontal position between the green and red indicators.
When opening the door on the inside it feels natural to just depress the lever and push the door open one handed.
Upon releasing the lever it can spring upwards and pass the locating point.
At this point when closing the door (slamming) this lever can easily spring up again into the lock position.
So LOCKED OUT!

When away the spare van key goes in the car and the spare car key goes in the van .............. not foolproof as you can still lock the car keys in the van but my Triton is the older type and not prone to locking its self.

Mine has done it randomly with no rhyme or reason, I have an opening tool secreted just in case and I will now be ordering a spare key when I get back from my hols..

Last year while in France managed to lock the car key in the boot of the car. Luckily green flag man managed to unlock door and then remove rear seat swabs to gain access to the boot area climb in and locate the key. (4 hours).
Suffice to say now carry spare car key in Van JIC.

And a couple of days later here they are, the machined surfaces look a bit rough but if you push them right into the locks tight they both work well and what more can you ask from a key than it opens the lock?
For £4.50p each I'm well pleased with them and the fast delivery.
so now I have 4 instead of 2 so I can hide one somewhere and know I will never be locked out
