Draw bar cover split

The plastic draw bar cover on my recently purchased Triton 420 has split down one side near its join to the checker plate. The previous owner had repaired it with duct tape but this has now failed. Is there a more permanent solution?

Have a look to see if there's somewhere near you that does so-called 'smart' repairs to car bumpers and bike fairings. They'll have the means to weld ABS.

Obviously you'll need to take the cover off to get it done, but it shouldn't be very expensive.

Thank you for the suggestion Pepe. I'll do a search.

Same here on our previously owned 430. Replaced under warranty and put down to vibration.

Do you mean the A frame cover? silver plastic faring? If so Jandi sells them to order I know as a friend decided to stand on mine! hence waiting a replacement. Then you have to use drill out the rivets and remove old one, then use low stress rivets and rivet gun to replace new faring.

Thanks to all for your replies. I tried the smart repair route but they were not interested. I have now ordered a replacement cover from Jandi after talking to Jean, a delightful lady, who also told me about the low stress rivets and said she would supply me with them.

That's a bit disappointing. Not interested because they couldn't do it, or because they couldn't be arsed?

Pepe. I believe it's the latter.

Eribanaut. Jean at Jandi told me they were generally £70-£80 plus VAT and delivery but mine was more expensive at £112.72 plus VAT.

I have a couple of splits which I repaired. I used a fine aluminium mesh behind the split which I impregnated with epoxy resin with chopped glass fibre. Once that was dry the split itself was then flooded with fine grade super glue. About 18 months later it's still OK. Driving past folk on the motorway at 50mph I don't think anybody notices. I've posted some pics in the picture gallery under Eriba Improvements, take a look, I hope that helps. The pics are on the 3rd page of that gallery.
