Very stole, Roger, very drole .

Take her down number one, five degrees on the bubble, seventy feet, catch a trim.

Perhaps we should rename the Troll, Nautilus.

I think for me one of the pluses is keeping the light out especially on a summer evening and campsite lighting...

It's surprising how much information is in the manual. It's there to be read and be informed, and it s up to the individual to take it on board or not

I didn't get a manual with my 45-year-old Puck - so I shall remain un-informed. I would agree absolutely with the suggestion of having a carbon-monoxide detector, though!

I wonder if I am the only one to have suffered a near Cardiac arrest when at 2am the blessed smoke alarm has gone off. Doesn't help when some bright twit decided to install the blessed thing almost directly over the bed close to the triangular vent in the roof skirt with an open invitation for very fine dust particles to find their way in activating the alarm.
Batteries now removed so hopefully we, along with the rest of the campsite dwellers, can sleep in peace.
Having got to my age and survived having an office next door to a nuclear reactor, raised in the north of England where every winter meant breathing in great volumes of smog, driven thousands of kilometres in vehicles that were not so technically advanced as today resulting in constantly sucking in exhaust fumes I'll happily accept the minimal risk associated with not having functional alarms.

My gripe with the smoke [and carbon monoxide] alarm is the flashing light they each have. As you say they are directly above where you sleep and they blink constantly. I've taken to putting a bit of white sticky label over the lights.

Away in Brighton at the moment. Top down last night and tonight as it's much warmer.
Have to admit that I closed off the fixed over bed vent after the first cold night last year! Not dead yet, but we don't use any gas.
By the way, you were being funny suggesting that the carbon monoxide detector will warn about a build up of carbon dioxide weren't you?

Recently we stayed at Trewethett Farm CC site near Tintagel over Bonfire Weekend. The weather forecast was not too bad but was informed by Mrs Warden that strong winds were forecast for Saturday/Sunday. She advised not to use awning (did not have with us).
The wind and rain did pickup in the course of the weekend and as we were pitched on the cliff top overlooking the Atlantic it started to shake the van and blow the pop-top about. When we retired Saturday night we dropped the roof which is the first time we have felt the need to do so in 13 years of Eriba-ing. Anyone who knows the site will be aware of the lovely views but also the exposed position of the pitches !

Sorry, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are totally different killers. A CO monitor will not detect CO2. CO comes from incomplete combustion, so dodgy burners etc. CO2 is a product of breathing, like rebreathing into a bag. Both can kill you however. but CO2 less likely in a caravan!
