The Body Rag

Evening all. Anyone shed light on this item ? Supposed to be a revolutionary towel like the micro towels. We had micro towels for the Eriba but have gone back to using ordinary cotton towels. Apparently at the Caravan and Camping Show

Little more info would be useful and I thought I was reading about a body bag and I think I know what those are

It looks like the towels sold by decathlon. We have the giant bath sheets that cost about 10E. They're great as they dry really quickly, even in the chillier weather.
If you Google body rags, they seem to be discontinued from a few sites. Too small?

I saw these today at their stand at the NEC. They are apparently some form of micro fibre and I took the standard test which was to have my hand sprayed with water, then grasp the towel to find just that left my hand dry. At that point I assume you are supposed to gasp in amazement and open your wallet. The big selling point is that they are dry in 20 minutes and by some magic property, you almost never have to wash them. After the young lady had got to the end of the spiel, she finally announced the price, £49 for a bath towel, but a special show offer of buy 1 get 1 free..

I wandered on as I didnt see any compelling need to buy 2 - or 1 come to that...

Well stick to conventional towels methinks

Or go to decathlon. They're really good in bad weather.

I've mulled on this overnight. I do think these towels do have a place. With their absorption capabilities and apparent ability to stay clean and not smell after repeated use, plus their ability to pack up very small and are light, if you were back packing, I could see them being of real use. But really, all of those issues don't apply when you are in a caravan (do they?)...

Though Islay's comment about bad weather is well made...

I think they might have a place in Eriba life. They definitely take up less space and dry quickly. We hang ours in the Troll washroom after use and in winter the blown air heating dries them quite quickly. Another quick way to dry them is to put them in the car when it's sunny, especially if the car is a dark colour!
I'm not convinced that they don't get smelly but proper drying helps to avoid this.
However I still don't really like the feel of them. You can't beat a proper rough old rub with a heavy cotton towel.😉

We've used some Gelert ones for ages. Plenty of others on-line. Agree with all Frantone says. Ours have just gone through the washing machine again and are all ready for another Eriba escape. You have to use a 'blotting' drying technique rather than 'a rough old rub' but they work well. The body rag bath sheet looks a bit fluffy - more like a normal towel. Wonder if it would fold so small. Overpriced though, I think (microfibrestore.co.uk).

We have a few smooth finish towels (2 hand + 2 bath size) that we purchased several years ago from a regular camping accessory shop in addition to the rougher surface type that were on sale at Aldi (Germany) earlier this year and were reasonably priced so well worth keeping an eye out at your local branch.

Another good, compact towel is a foota. They fold up small, dry quickly, are 100% cotton, cheap and you can have a good, raspy rub!

We use the decathlon towels. They pack so small we can each take 2 hand towels and 2 bath towels. But I’d say you only really need the hand towel size as you can’t use them like cotton towels as they don’t slide across the body - it’s more of a dabbing method of drying yourself! The smaller ones are easier to hang up to dry in the Eriba bathroom. We use our bike rack as a drying rack. Over 4m of drying space :))
