Stiff Door

Hi

I'm a newbie here.

I'm having a problem with my door on my Eriba Triton, 2006. In the last 4 months or so, it has become very stiff, springy, if that makes any sense. For the life of me I can't see what the issue is. I can't see anything that is rubbing. I can feel more resistance when closing the door shut. Is it possible the door has gone out of shape, though it looks fine to me. Is the hinges that have worn?

I be grateful to hear from anyone who have had the same issues and found a solution.

Regards
Gary

Do you mean that it feels hard to close as it come into contact with the frame or that it is not moving freely through the arc from fully open to closed?
If it’s at the closure then it may be out of shape. Also some silicone spray polish on the rubber door seals may make it easier to close.
If it’s not moving easily on the hinges then you could just lift the door upwards off the hinges to inspect, clean and lubricate.

HI

Thanks for the reply.

Its everything you described. To get the door off, it just need to lift upwards. I'll have a look on Friday.

Thanks

Gary

If the door is out of shape it will show at the top or bottom by not fitting into the frame. The method used to reshape it is bending it carefully over a straight beam of wood. Sounds crude but it’s what the dealers do!

Hi

Thanks.

It doesn't look out of shape to me. What makes go out of shape, is it heat. I have noticed the bends on the aluminium parts are whitening, Does this mean anything.I'll take some pics to show you what I mean.

Thanks again for the advice.

Gary
