Bathroom door.

I couldn't find the thread on the problems with the bathroom door. We are at AL today for service etc and I have been shown how the latest 2015 models have the door opening 180 degrees right back to against the wardrobe, so not able to be open past the extent of the hinges, which causes most of the problems with ours. We are going to have the door retro fitted with the new hinges. There will be 3 holes left on the inside of the door but I can live with plastic covers for these if it makes the door properly functional again and not a continuous worry. I was going to take it off and make a curtain to go there instead I was so sick of it.

We also have to have a metal strip fitted all the way round the inside bottom edge of the top cupboards to deal with the wood splitting we have on one of them by the hinge. This is a recognised problem with some of our vans and anyone with similar should ask for this to be done under the warranty. It looks fine when done, just like a trim that is supposed to be there.

We're waiting for this work to be done on our 2013 Troll.
Oh, and a new roof!

I will ask about getting the new hinges too.

Hymer happened happarently!
Haccidental or haphazard storage caused a small batch of roofs to warp before hassembly.
I am pleased that AL pointed it out whilst still within warranty (by a matter of days!!!) and I am just awaiting a date for the work to be done.

I met a 2013 Triton owner on holiday that had a warped upper roof, it would collect the water then tip with a bang when it got too heavy. At the time he was in discussion with the dealer.

I had not noticed any warping but I do remember seeing some pooling on occasion.
I was told that this has only affected a small number of roofs and AL have 2 to deal with.

Yes, our 2013 Triton is going in the workshops mid April to have this work done. By the way, there has been a recall notice issued regarding this problem so it should not matter whether anyones van is still under warranty or not.

Deeps, It's good to hear feed back from over the water, it seems that Hymer are proactive with their recalls in mainland Europe, I remember that you also had a letter for a recall regarding a sharp clip on the roof line that was ripping the canvas. It appears that in the UK Hymer are more reactive than proactive.

I spoke to Jason at AL the other day regarding the hinge and the split wood issue, I was concerned that my 2012 Familia with the same hinges may suffer from the same complaint. Apparently it is not the hinge that is an issue but it was when Hymer changed the interior wood to the lighter colour, there were some batches of the composite wood which was not dense enough to take the screws......

I thought that all these faults were caused by sloppy workmanship at Cernay, which was
why the production was taken to Germany for some teutonic thoroughness and quality.
