Proper campsites that are friendly towards Eribas

I have to be careful what I say here, and don't mean to offend anyone, but as tent campers (big family tent and small hiking tents for weekend breaks), we always made a bee-line for campsites that were off the beaten track, in picturesque locations, allowed camp fires and were pitch black at night for star gazing (minimal ambient light). All pitches were on grass, the facilities were basic but good enough, and there were no EHUs, but some of the locations were breathtaking. Many of these sites would allow tents (apart from the huge ones) and camper vans, but they generally excluded caravans. Now, technically an Eriba is a caravan, but I prefer to think of them as more like a VW California (other brands are available), but with the benefit of having a normal car (rather than a van) to use for the odd trip off site.

Can anyone recommend 'interesting' campsites for weekend breaks that will bend the 'no caravans rule' for Eriba owners? One of our favourites in Burnham Deepdale, North Norfolk coast has already declined our request for May bank holiday. Our 'go to' used to be the Cool Camping books and website, but alas, these places seem to love little camper vans, but consider caravans to be the devil's work.

Don't know of any sites in particular that would bend the rules for a small Eriba, but from the site owners point of view, there may be insurance implications with allowing caravans. Planning conditions may also come into play.

If you do find a site, let us all know!

Cheers Mark

Mark, that's a good point about insurance and/or the licence that the site has. Deepdale Camping told me that their license does not cover caravans, but I'm amazed that I could rock up in a VW California (if only I could afford one), but not with a cute little Eriba on my back.

Try Breck Farm, near Holt. Campfires, bags of space, allows caravans and VW campers, decent but basic facilities, no EHUs in fire fields.

Great for kids, allow campfires and if you want you can help out with the goats...................
