Questions about Troll (~2000'ish)

Afternoon.
Half an year ago i registered just to say hello, after reading for long. Well, back then i was speaking about getting Eriba at some point.
Now the point is alot closer, due to my work ( id prefer to stay sometimes just sleeping on van instead of driving 1 hour per way to home just to sleep for few hour) and spending weekends somewhere else at summer.
Were set to get 4-berth model, and as ive studied, were looking for Troll? We have a budget of around 10000€, and therefore ive came to conclusion were looking vans around ~2000? Also wc is must.
Id like to ask few questions about the 4-berth models. I realise we cant choose that much when buying used, but it wouldnt hurt to know options.
Was there a model of double and two singles? Two doubles? If two doubles, whats the size of smaller one, or were they same size? Bunk bed + double? Are/ were they fixed or what? If you now realise what im after.
Anything else to look out than the "usuals"? Possible undercarriage rust aside. Pop-tops leaking?
Thanks in advance, this is a great forum!

Hi. The only 4 berth Troll with a washroom/toilet is the 550 :- g15p102-Troll.html but I don't think they were made until around 2002.
The 530 g15p99-Troll.html is the nearest you'll get with a full size double at the back and a large single in the front. Possibly OK for two children.

Hello,
I bought my 2001 Troll 530gt from Ikonkampers.co.uk, based in East Yorks. They close for the winter but will re open in Mid Feb
They source their stock from Holland and Germany, know what they are doing, and every van comes with a service and 6 months warranty, They are a small outfit but I liked their style, good service and very helpful.I would contact them and let them know what you are after.
A 530 comes with a transverse double bed across the van for people up to 5ft 10ins, also has a large front dinette/ single bed, big enough for 2 kids top to tail.
A 540 comes with a larger double bed that runs lengthways, but this eats into the existing space and makes the front dinette/ single much narrower.
Most of the vans of the 1999-2002 era going to be these models, the others mentioned above are much rarer.
Also Trolls of this era are going to mostly have an axle weight of 1000kg unless they have been specifically uprated, this doesn't preclude you having a mover but will eat into your weight budget.
Like other members, we run a dry ship and use the site facilities for washing etc, this helps to keep the weight down.
Good thing is that vans of this era were very well made, and by now will have had any problems sorted.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

Wow, thanks for so many replies so fast.
Yes, i forgot to write im from Finland. I have my eyes set to Germany, possibly including Belgium/ Netherlands to search too, but Germany is preferred. You dont see them here, so importing is a "must".
Randa France & highmiler, thanks for very through-out explanation. Yes, the other 2 berths are for childrens. Another havent even done yet, another is 13 days old :), but its planned, so id like to buy right van already. And space isnt so much concern inside, sleeping places are more of a concern. Were not going to "live" on it; rather to use it at our pit-stop when travelling. Going to buy big awning for the space-purpose. Not going to buy mover either. Shopping on the spot. So far weve travelled with tent, but wife told it aint option anymore?
By the way, 25cm's of snow currently.

Probably a 530 will be the easiest to find and if needed, a bunk bed can be made to fit over the front bed. The only problem with the 530 is if you are more than 183cm tall as the bed is only 183cm long.
Will you take the ferry to Germany? This is a good company less than 2 hours from Travemunde/Lubeck. http://www.kultcaravans.de/

Bunk bed? Now you got me really interested. Are they commercially available from Hymer? Or as some kit? Or did you mean DIY?
Were both 175cm short, so no problems there. We realise were going to give up here and there versus 2,4m wide and 7m long soap-boxes, but we just dont like them. Its more of a fixation to get Eriba, to both of us.
~2000 isnt carved to stone, it was more to mention what i have noticed 10000€ would roughly buy model-year wise. Kult Caravan is already bookmarked. Is there any particular time of year on Germany ( Belgium/ Netherlands) when people dump their old vans for new ones, when theres usually more vans for sale?

Bunk Bed. Hard to find a Hymer one. Best and easiest to build one. Bunk Bed - Eriba 430 gt
The Yellow 1998 530 at Kult Caravans is the same era as ours. Ours is a 1999 Purple stripe and it has been good to us for 8 years now. Very well built.

Thank you so much! Was a great link - how did i miss that when i travelled through the forum
You just kindly solved almost all of the problems we had. So, we just need a van which has double-beds lenghtways, at day as table and seats for 4, and for night converting it to a double bed. Therefore we can sacrifice the seats and table at front to make exactly same bunk-bed! Truth to be told, as childrens ages up, they like bunk-bed more than double- i speak from experience, been there done that as a child :)
That also frees up the search. Thanks! One thing which indeed attracts us to Eribas, is the build quality, and how long they seem to last if taken care for. Im planning to keep it for long when i finally find the right one. Of course, looks attracts us too.
