We are collecting our first Eriba next week and are looking for some advice from you experts...

Insurance - any recommendations to who the good guys are - we are getting some wildly varying quotes and have never heard of a lot of the companies quoting us via "GO COMPARE" AND "CONFUSED" comparison websites.

Also what security equipment should we be going for? - We assume a wheel clamp/lock And a Hitchcock are probably the sensible route but again so many products on the market anything you would recommend/steer clear of....

Thanks in anticipation

Oh and our van is a 2007 Troll 540GT

A wheel clamp and hitch lock are all you should need and should satisfy any insurance Co requirements.
As to insurance, it's a big subject and you'll get a lot of differing opinions, it's not the cheapest you want it's the one that pays if something goes wrong,
if you're old enough Saga are good but not cheap, and two people on here can testify to the fact they pay without too much fuss, but other owners will suggest other companies,

Hi Steve.
I'd be very surprised if your 2007 Troll doesn't already have an ALKO Stabiliser and hitch lock. Check with the seller. (they may also have a wheel clamp).

There is a wealth of information regarding hitch locks, wheel clamps and insurance on the Search engine.

Here's one thread regarding wheel clamps:- Wheel Clamp

I'm with Eribanaut regarding Saga. We changed to them last year. Previously we were with Tower Gate which is also a good caravan insurer.

Hi and

We have been using Caravan Guard for the past three years and for security a wheel clamp and also tow hitch lock. Also also do a tow hitch that can remain on all the time - useful when stopping at service stations as insurance companies tend to insist that when leaving vans unattended security should be in place.

Thanks for that Randa - I've spoken to the dealer we are buying from and although the van is fitted with an Alko hitch it does not have a lock - However he is going to fit a secondhand one on it for us for what is I think a reasonable cost.

We've just got to buy a wheel lock now amongst several thousand other things!!

Thanks again for your help - much appreciated.

Thanks Robin & Pat

Have spoken to Caravan Guard but the premium they are quoting us is sky high so we will not be using them this time.

Thanks for your input though - much appreciated.

Thanks Dave,

Looks like we will be going either with "Saga" or "Tower Gate" as other companies are quoting silly money or we have never heard of them.
