I remember when Fruit Salads were 4 for a penny and that was an old penny

Yeh my Grandad told me about that!

Pension, I've been getting mine since I was 42! Now 62 and having to think about other pensions which will come out when I'm 65, I have 3 more plus the old age!!?? So I will be getting tax advice from somone who knows

I remember them being 4 for a penny to, I was shocked to see them in ASDA earlier today though, they are in packs of about 12 to 15 (I did'nt count them) and are shaped more like an Opal Fruit I had to buy a £1 worth

Edited to add the first para ref pensions.

Wow this is a great topic.
Brought back so many memories. Like having no heating in the house. The cracked window panes . Which got frozen in the winter on the inside.Outside loo in the garden. Not a lot of food on the table . 3 day weeks with electic going off at tea time.
Out on my bike till it got dark. Or catching minnows down the local stream.
But we knew no different. And where happy. Except getting bullied at school because i had a cheap uniform on.

Wish I could have my pension now, I am 57 and due to having been self employed for most of my working life I don't have a company pension. I did make some provision latterly with a private pension but I'm leaving that until I really need the money. The state pension is the one that annoys me. When I started work, like all other women, I was due my pension at 60, now the goalposts have been moved and I won't get it until I am 67. I bet the Government is hoping that half of us won't make it to pension age, miserable lot.
As for the sweeties, it is incredible what inflation has done to the price of everything. I remember putting £1 of petrol in my first car and it lasted me all week! My first house was bought for £6000 and we needed a mortgage for that. It's all relative isn't it.

Collecting badges from jam jar offers comes to mind and playing in derelict buildings was great fun specially when some floors were missing. Climbing cliffs without any ropes, I could go on but great times

We collected them 'cause we liked them, 😀. How can that be considered offensive, or political incorrect ?

In the absence of the other forum admin team (one in Scotland, one in France and 2 at a meet with no Wifi) I am taking it upon myself to modify this topic for legal reasons to comply with UK race laws,
I totally understand that no offence was intended by the poster but we do not have the funds to pay any fine that may result or to mount a legal defence.
Now the legal position has been pointed out I Feel I have little choice in the matter but to modify things for our own best interests.

You may say it in jest , BUT a friend of mine was working in a garden centre that had a golly display, and a person went to the tills for the manager to complain - they all took it very serious and acted accordingly to pacify the woman who said she had visited with her forenamed who were coloured and found it very embarrassing!!! THEY are DOLLS nothing racist.

I find it strange that we can talk about things like the holocaust and it is'nt politically incorrect but if we mention a badge from a well known jam company the world goes mad. Millions died during the period of the holocaust not just because of it but because of what else was happening, someone mentions a doll like figure and we are supposed to forget our history! CRAZY
