Hello,
It's annual service time in a few weeks and I've asked the workshop to fit an external 240v electrical socket to our 2004 Troll 540GT. Advice on positioning and ease of installation would be very much appreciated

See badly drawn arrow on photo - underneath table where mini oven and toaster are plugged in. Very useful feature. Don't know how easy it is to install though I'm sure someone more electrically minded will be able to tell you. That seems a logical spot.
I've seen standard interior sockets (i.e cheaper than exterior sockets) fitted just inside the van in roughly the same spot. They can be used via an open exterior locker and don't involve cutting a hole in the body.
I also had a 540 with one fitted under the floor in roughly the same spot. That took a bit of scrabbling to use.

For collection when new I had the dealer fit a socket inside the hatch under the bed. I had fitted these on previous vans and it has proved very useful, as others [above] have found. I use this either directly into the awning, or when awning is not in use as a plug in feed to an under the van socket near the rear corner steady.

Or how about something like this

then euro plug,

with a length of cable under the van, then rubber 13amp socket, job done with no cutting of the van, and no having to leave the hatch open if you want to leave the slow cooker on whilst out.
