Andy,
I'm not sure if you do pay full price on a factory order, I know I did not on my 2017 van from Lowdhams in Nottingham.
I bought this:-
£19,976
430
Fixed bed
White
Stone deflector front guard
1200kg axle
Alloys
Spare wheel and carrier
Mosquito net to door
External access flap to under bed
2 x rear reading lights
30L onboard tank
Truma electric water heater
Comfort upholstery pack to front
Stanley Upholstery
Battery/autonomy pack

Free - to get the sale
Al-ko Jockey Wheel Premium – with noseweight indicator
Sink cover,
Two handles to replace rear grab rail
Surface mounted socket fitted under bed
Reich Easydriver Basic 1.8

Not ordered or paid for, but fitted to van
sprung rear mattress
external water feed

Better than pricematch on a Kampa awning, plus free groundsheet.

5yr fixed price service and water ingress contract deal at £1297.50 [I paid for this]

Colin

But to insist on asking full list price on van's you've bought in speculatively and are saying 'this is the spec' take it or leave it' seems wrong. If the customer is compromising on what they want, then the dealer should too.
Why? If a dealer can sell all the vans he can get, why should he compromise on price?

It's supply and demand.

Dealers are in business to make a profit. No profit, no dealer and nothing for you to buy.

Have you seen how many new vans the 'new' dealers have in stock, with more due and only half a model year left before they're a year old to the trade.

I've just looked at Adventure Leisure's website and from a quick scan they have 27 new 2018 Eriba Touring in stock.

542x1
540x2
535x2
530x5
430x6
420x4
320x2
310x5

Around £0.5m in stocking costs, not counting Nova's, TAB's, etc. That's a bit under £1,000 per van in financing per year, or about £75 per month that they have them unsold..

Have you ever tried to squeeze a discount out of AL? On anything?

And Lechlade were the same.

We tried with both.

We were 'promised' a discount with Lechlade, but when we went to pick it up and pay for it the best they could do (having been struck down with a severe attack of Selective Memory Failure) was an EHU cable. Whoop-de-do.

We did better with AL, mind. We spent it on some chips and a tin of pop on the way home.

I rest my case.

I hadn't viewed this post before but I've just run the list through my calculator, using the 2018 price list and it comes in at £19,830, though there's no price listed for the front 'Comfort upholstery pack'. I guess they might account for the additional £146.

It looks like the sprung mattress, which you didn't order, would cost £260 and I would've thought that external water feed would be fitted as part of the 30L onboard tank option.

So it looks like you paid list price, or thereabouts, but that list of goodies thrown in is excellent. Jockey wheel and sink cover list at £130, an extra socket costs at least £75 these days and the mover seems to retail at about £850 without fitting, so at least £1,200, maybe £1,500 of stuff at retail.

Sounds about correct. Add in the service contract deal, reduced price awning and groundsheet along with grab handles and I think we are up to about £2K, or 10%.
