I was beginning to despair for the OP he wants to know if you do it, not what xyz thinks.
We don't have one so I can't help. The previous owner removed it.

Your quite right the answers to the OP question have been a bit vague, my straight answer to the question "would I leave my gas fire on with the top down whilst asleep"

IMHO Answer: " Absolutely 100% not"


When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!

To clarify my answer, I would only have the lid down at night, I wouldn't leave the fire on at night so NO I wouldn't have the fire on with the lid down.

I have never left any heater on overnight. In the morning turn it on, snuggle up in the duvet for 5 mins then get up.

If it worries you, then use electric. We have a tiny oil filled radiator. Plug it in and Bob est ton oncle. We often close the roof : when its windy, noisy or chilly.
