All good info thanks.
On a similar theme, the French government released a mobile phone app to alert the public in the event of a terrorist attack a couple of years ago called SAIP.
Sorry I can't provide a link as I'm on my work computer.
But I can - SAIP
.

Very helpful. We'll copy that.
However, I don't think every eventuality is covered. For example, at the forthcoming Eurofest there is a condition no 8 and no 9 for Mr Frantone but not one for blind drunk
Seriously though, some of you may remember when Mrs R felt quite ill in the middle of the night while in France. We were very unsure as to what to do and also quite vulnerable. We then talked about preparing a list for any future emergencies and this will certainly do the trick

Also, remember that there is the 112 number valid in all European countries, furthermore, you're very likely to get an English speaking person. The number is valid in the 28 member countries, and bizarrely, in India! Perhaps easier than trying to remember a different number for each country.

It wouldn't surprise me if, in the UK, your 999 call will be picked up by an Indian Call Centre.
