Loose Plastic Piece in Toilet Waste Tank

Hi,

We have had a loose plastic piece rattling round in our Thetford C400 Waste Tank since we collected our used 2015 Triton 430 back in November.

Anyway, managed to dig it out over the weekend in Masham - then washed my hands and had another beer !!!

Anybody got any ideas what it is and where is should be clicked back into place - not even sure it is from the tank - maybe a completely undrelated bit of plastic which has been dropped down the toilet ?

The float mechanism appears to be held in place correctly so not sure its float related ?

Any ideas peeps? Photos hopefully shown/linked below:

I think it’s this company that has exploded diagrams of Thetford cassettes for ordering spares. One of those might be useful.

Thanks for the link, looks like it might be number 42 on the following exploded view doc: https://www.leisureshopdirect.com/water/...e-parts#ppSpecs[iframes]/0/

Helpfully number 42 isn't then listed as a spare part as far as I can see.

I may lift the larger circular lid off the tank and see if I can see where it clips in the inside of the tank, now I have half an idea where it is located !

Thanks again for the link, very helpful.

Looks like its a 'wheel support bracket' according to this link: http://caracamp.co.uk/item/thetford-c400...ng-tank-diagram

Not sure it does a great deal of anything but must be a reason its there on the inside of the tank ?

Looks like it could be connected to the vent on the bottom of the tank.

I think you will find its the float that sets off the red light to tell you the box is full.

The float assembly is all in place, this is the 'wheel support bracket'.

Yesterday when home from the excellent spring meet I had the cassette in pieces to clean and de scale it. Sod’s law operated so that I only saw your post after I had reassembled it!
However it is clean and dry so I could take it apart again later today and photograph the part location for you.

Thats ever so helpful of you, so just a kind of brace between the rear wheels.

Thanks so much for taking the time to take apart (again) and photo, very much appreciated ?

I owe you one

Presumably it stops the cassette walls distorting and compromising the wheel attachments when under load.

Wheels! Whatever will they think of next?

I have to carry our non-perambulatory version.

Didn't the wheels come along about 2005 or so?

IIRC you can buy a new cassette with wheels that will fit earlier editions.

Mind you, even with wheels they're no good for racing, anything above snail's pace and they go all over the place. They really need an AlKo ATC system for bog cassettes.
