Use of 240 volt generator when rough camping.

Has anyone any experience in the use of a 240 volt petrol generator ?
I used one for many years with our old Rapido Club 30 caravan with no problems.
The electrics look more complicated on the Eriba
The generator is a cheaper Clark model with no stabiliser so voltage may vary slightly from 240 volts.
Do not want to damage the Eriba system if generator not suitable to use.
