We have a voucher for a day on the West Somerset railway (Christmas present) that needs using soon. Can anyone recommend any site, preferably smaller, with facilities. Railway runs from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead so anywhere within 20 miles or so radius would be great.

We have used the WSR several times over the years and 'my' engine 6024 King Edward 1 is currently being slowly screwed back together after heavy overhaul in their shed at Minehead.

We've stayed at and enjoyed Minehead CC site several times, and we've driven to BL from the CC site at Ilminster (Five Acres as was), plus last year we drove there from Old Oaks.

Hi Julie and Neil.
We'll probably get slayed by several people on here for giving away their "secret" camp site but Exe Valley Camping is quite nice. It's about 13 miles south of Minehead and about a 45 minute drive but to get to it with a caravan you have to travel as far south as the Tiverton Junction of the M5 and then approach it from the south.
The toilet facilities are clean and adequate but are not modern due to the site being in the National Park with all its building restrictions.

There is a touring site at Blue Anchor Bay, I've drove past it a few times when on holiday at Butlins but never used it.
There is a WSR station there as well

not sure of price as our last visit was some years back..
