Our toilet room shower tap suddenly developed a leak, and on closer inspection there appears to be a jagged split all the way up the underside of it - seen on this photo:

It looks as though it may have been "repaired" in the past, as it shows some deposits - may be silicon.

Has this happened to anyone else, and does anyone know if the part is readily available? The van is still under warranty with AL, but I've not approached them yet.

Unfortunately it looks a lot like frost damage. You will be able to get a replacement from Jandi cheaper than from AL, who in my experience will probably tell you that it is self inflicted and not under guarantee .

That's brilliant, Colin. I just assumed it would be a special Hymer fit, but I've just tried it and it's the same as the shower at home.

Just a quick postscript... I got a response from Jandi 10 days after my initial enquiry, as follows:

"Hello Ron,

Sorry about the delay in replying - we’re in severe need of the 48-hour day!

The actual shower head used in the Touring is no longer available but there is a very similar one which is still available. The only difference seems to be the colour of the trim round the shower head and of the little rubber jets in the shower head. It costs £22.89 + V.A.T.. It’s out of stock at present but I’ll put one on order as I recently sold the last one I had."

Ee, can be an expensive business this caravanning...
