.....or have we forgotten something
This morning we had a trial run at loading the car ready for the off. Against last year, we had already decided that we didn't need a few items but the biggest difference this year is that we wish to take the bikes.
We were amazed that apart from the two bikes, we've managed to get the camping fridge, a counter top freezer, the full awning and poles, ground sheets, chair cushions, two spare wheels (car + caravan), tool bag and electric pump, a cuddly toy ( not really ) and there's still enough room for those last minute items so we are well pleased. And we can still see through the rear window.
This means that we will not have to shift things in and out of the caravan when stopping overnight. How good is that?

Is that all, Roger? You should have bought a Morris Traveller, or better still a Mini NOT a Touran. Now here's what a packed Touran should look like. Only things still to go in are the cable reel, laptop and clothes case. Oh, and I haven't seen her indoors for the past half hour maybe she's in their somewhere too.

Coz as long as you don't drive a car where your 'a**e is 6" above the floor there is a slight view through the caravan and a part view of the road behind

Suitcases, freezers, seat cushions?
I'm beginning to worry that we must have been doing something wrong for the past three years and now find myself questioning whether we really did enjoy our holidays without all the paraphernalia that some people obviously find essential.
I can honestly say that on no occasion have we felt the need for extra cupboard/wardrobe/stowage space inside the caravan on our four week jaunts to the South of France and towing with a convertible with the roof down whenever possible (and therefore with even less boot space available than normal,) neither car nor caravan has ever been fully laden.

You'd have even more room if you weren't taking half your kitchen with you
We find the freezer invaluable and an extra fridge for the G n' T , beer and white wine a treat when we're going for a long period of time to (hopefully) far warmer climes
As long as you don't travel with them empty then they are glorified full cardboard boxes.
