We just put it in the washing machine on hand wash at 30c, comes up nice every time.

Yup, delicate 30degC wash. We put it in a mesh washing bag so that it wasn't bashed about too much, I'm sure a pillowcase would do the same.

The first time we used a "netting" whitener, but it didn't seem to make ant difference so we haven't bothered since.
