Locker Screws

Hello,

On my 2014 310, I seem to be often tightening the screws on the overhead lockers. One one of them, I appeared to have pulled the screw out when closing the door with something trapped in the gap, however, it did re-tighten.

I think if I used slightly bigger, longer screws this may alleviate the problem, but they would need to fit through the holes in the hinges. I've read on the forum that other people have had this issue and replaced them. Can anyone point me in the direction of some suitable screws or other advice? I'm a bit DIY shy (it's probably a lack of confidence in messing around with an expensive item), so I'm looking for the simplest solution,

Thanks,

One way to do the repair is to stuff a matchstick(s) into the hole with or without using glue; snap or cut the matchstick(s) off flush and simply re-use the original screw.

This has been successfully used by members on countless occasions, so it's worth giving it a try.

Thanks, the screws are that small though on 2014 model year vans, there is no way a matchstick is going to fit in the hole (at least I think it won't).

Try using cocktail sticks or toothpicks.

Whack it with a hammer. It will go in.

Took all mine out (one by one) and replaced them after applying a small blob of Araldite epoxy to the thread. Never had a problem since...

I have also removed all of mine. In doing so it was apparent that as well as the plywood being unable to hold the screw (attempting fixing into the edge of low density crap plywood), many screws had been driven in at a slight angle. This results in the screw heads sticking out and the locker hatches becoming hinge bound. The screws used do not seem standard in that the gauge of the thread does not match the expected head size.
I have countersunk all hinges and glue in longer screws.

Blob of Gorilla Goo on each screw . Refit and remove xs. Wait for it to dry before closing door.
