Hi all - Can any of you tell me what levelling system you use? Our first outing in our lovely Triton 430 was great, but she didn't want to stay on the ramp that we use with our T5, even with the handbrake on. The stepped Milenco products seem to have tyre recesses that are either too small for our wheel or have too much of a height difference between levels. The stacking system looks like it wouldn't work on uneven ground. Then there is the ramp with the chock, but that looks to be a difficult one to get in and out of. I'm beginning to think that a few good old-fashioned cut-off planks would do the job perfectly well and save me money - unless one of you can advise me otherwise. Help!!

Over 15yrs we have found the ramp with a chock to be very effective and cope with all sites we have visited. We simply tow the van up the ramp and then chock it. The odd time we cannot get level across the axle we have moved the van a few feet around the pitch and got around the problem.
The only difficulty is getting the thing off the ramp when you come to leave. If you have a motor mover this is not a problem as you can drive the van forward a few cm up the ramp and then pull the chock out from behind the wheel.

Hey Colin, the ramp with the chock looked the most secure for me. As I said, it was just the setting up and getting off that was bothering me, but you've sorted that one for me now. Just need a little more practice with the motor mover (we've only had one play with it) and we'll be fine! Many thanks, Chris.

Getting onto a levelling ramp with a mover can be a pain as everything twists etc. Towing on is much easier, as long as your careful. Once established on the ramp, motor mover adjustment seems easier.

You can remove the chock by hooking up and using the car, In practice you can also put the vans brake on and give the chock a little jiggle. The problem I have had using the car to push/pull onto the ramp is on sites that insist on you turning the van round leaving no access for the car.

Yup, thanks for that Andy. I wouldn't have a problem towing onto the ramp. When leaving, I reckon I could take the pressure off the chock either by dabbing the motor mover or by hooking up towing a tad forwards.

Fair point guys - If you can't have the van and the car the way round you want them, that would be a problem. Would need to check that on arrival. Good to see that the ramp/chock system is one that you're all using though. Definitely the way I'm going to go - Cheers, Chris.

Ok - sorry about this, but before I splash the cash, one last question on all this then. Which one to buy? Froli, Maypole, Pyramid, Streetwise, or one I've never heard of?! - Thanks, Chris

I use "Lock 'n' Level" although not cheap, £120 online but I got it for under £100 at the NEC show. Saves carrying bulky ramps, chocks, etc so long as you have a portable tyre inflator (as most cars have these days).

Hi - thanks for that. Those are pretty well the same as the ones that we have. The trouble that I had was that the brake alone couldn't hold us securely enough. Never thought of using the other one as a chock though. Will give it a go!

I bought a LocknLevel last year. Best levelling system I have ever used. So easy to guide the van on and I use a 12v pump to inflate.

Don't pay silly prices. I use this one

continuously variable height. Chock grips the ramp at any height.

and you can get them cheaper!
