Hi Poptop320 - I was looking at Streetwise, as I liked the look of the lip at the top. However, I thought that I might have trouble when nudging forward to release pressure for chock removal when leaving - Chris.

Hi - I like the lip on these, but just wondered whether it might be difficult juggling forwards to release the pressure on the chock when leaving?

On mine the chock has handles which protects your fingers when removing it. You don't have to raise the weight off the chock completely as you can pull it out sideways. The chock will be partly on the ground if only a little rise is required. The chock is only fully on the ramp for large height differences in which case I used the car to back it off. However if you have an assistant you only need to rock the van slightly and pull it off. Getting it up the ramp without a car is the difficult bit.

One of the advantages of having a mover, for me anyway, has been the ability to pull the van up the ramp just a few mm. I had prior to this consistently experienced problems when attempting to wiggle the van to release the wedge behind the wheel when it was on a ramp. Reversing and hitching up the car to pull it that little bit forward was also a problem as I would usually have to wiggle the van a little and this was not easy.

So in answer to your question getting the chock out can be a pain in the arse.

Hi guys, good advice about using the car when coming down from any real height. Anything lower, we can start by trying a bit of wiggling (!) before playing with the motor mover.

Hey Colin, I think your last sentence sums it all up!! Luckily we've both always loved messing about in fields! - Cheers, Chris.

Lent my chocks to my daughter last week for her camper. Silly move, she drove off and left them on site. Hubby is very happy about this as he has been after the lock n level for ages. Looks like I will have to give in on this one. Still not convinced he didn't pay her😆

Hi Joan - The Lock n level certainly looks to be the easiest to use. My only reservation, apart from the price, is how much height you get for your money. Chris.

Hi Chris,
Spoke to a chap on a site last week who had one and he said when fully inflated it raised the van by six inches.

Quick tip I find useful, always back up the ramp, either using car or mover. That way , as soon as the handbrake is applied, there is no more movement.
If you pull up a ramp, the brake won't hold when you disconnect because of the over-run brakes. OK if you can lock with a chock but I've found there is always a slight movement back down the ramp. But then I'm a bit OCD about levelling! You see a lot of caravans on site who clearly don't bother.
If you have a mover, you can use the mover on the opposite wheel to straighten up the unit without affecting the ramped wheel.
