Our new coffee table

Our new coffee table. We’ve kept this a secret until we were able to try it out but last January we bought a wooden bed breakfast tray from Lidl’s price £7.99.
We then fitted two short lengths of aluminium angle to one side (see photo) which will hook under the aluminium table rail of the van.
In our case, we knew that the rolled up bed linen would support the bulk of the table while the applied angle would hold it in place. It works really well.
However, for those who have the long rear cross cushion but don’t have the benefit of the rolled up bed linen, with a little bit of inventive flair, the coffee table will still work with its legs down.
This little table can also be used as a coffee table outside the van.

I like your resourcefulness and imagination

We bought (i most definately have no diy skills) a small table from Ikea for a tenner, it has chrome legs which fold flat and a slatted top, it stores very neatly in the bottom of the Troll wardrobe

I will post a picture sometime in the week

3 photos, one is in the stowed position in the wardrobe, one is on the end cupboard / table (it never goes there it is really just to show the height) and the third just a general view, if you had 2 or mabe 3 of them you could use them as shelves in the wardrobe

I used a proper tree wood bed head, cut to size, in the Troll.
Just added an adjustable leg http://www.justkampers.com/height-adjust...-and-buses.html
it just stays put with the tv on it and is no inconvenience
when the two single beds are in use. It can be swopped with the
table from the dinette for more formal eating.

Looks good Roger do you use the big table outside or leave it at home?
I take the small table I made for the Puck and have the choice of using that or the big table outside and use the front one as a permanent bed.
I'm a 3 table man

what a great idea, big enough for cuppas and a naughty but nice x 2
more room for wool

we leave the big table at home hob just use small table outside and at the lounge end, we don't have a designated storage area for the big one, so it gets in the way..

Hi Nev and Amanda. We are 4 table people if you include our latest addition.
We have the smaller front dinette table. The big table can either hook on to the outside of the van but it also has a second folding leg arrangement so it can stand alone away from the van.
We also carry one of those lightweight roll away, slatted aluminium tables which is good as an awning table for cooking on. By the way, the new Andrew James induction hob is a winner. Mrs Randa loves it so much she won't let me near it.

Hob investigates further..................... no power rating on the makers website amazon give it a power rating of 2000 watts.................thats about 8.5 amps ................or a little over 1\2 a good hookup power rating...............don't put the heater and the kettle on at a 10 amp site or try to use it at a 6 amp site

Ah but this is a flexible "Hob" not a "Hob" that's fixed in it's ways. Therefore this adjustable "Hob" on it's low settings should still be a well behaved "Hob" and be appreciative of the low amperage,
We'll let you know Hob

Righty ho Hob, here's the low down. We are now in France and are hooked up to 6 amp lecci.

The Andrew James Induction hob does have a total power of 2000 watts and has a digital 1 to 10 readout, ten being the highest. When you switch it on however it automatically selects a default of 5 (or 1000 watts).
As I don't know the first think about it Mrs Randa has told me that she has just cooked a wizzo meal on it with the default reading ( I think 6 amps equates to 1380 watts so the default is well below). We had other things on the go at the same time but all was well.

Second table leg fixing. Just took a photo so you can see how it was done.
