Affixing number plate
When I collected the Puck L, I took with me the long yellow number plate I already had. AL stuck this on with adhesive pads, and warned me this wouldn't last long. Of course it has now fallen off so I've got it tucked in the rear window ;p
I can see there were some holes where presumably one of the previous owners had affixed a long number plate. These have been plugged and have got some sort of silicony thing over them, presumably done by AL.
Do people generally not use the long number plates but get the square ones and fix them to the square spot provided for them? Or is there no reason I wouldn't use the plate I've got, and re-open the sealed holes and affix it there?
(Remember I'm new to caravans, so apols if this is a really stupid question. )

On older vans with the square number plate brackets, it's better to fix through those brackets as they stand proud of the van's skin. Also the number plate light is immediately over the square plate whereas it doesn't throw light on the long plate.

If you can use the old number plate you can spend the saving on something else - just drill holes to match the original ones that AL have bunged up and use new screws!
If you decide on a new plate, don't forget you need a bill (fuel, rates, phone or the like) as well as V5C to allow the supplier to do a new plate!!

They get round the rules by virtue of a location outside the UK, most often Eire.
I'm using one of them almost as we speak to get a pair of plates for my daughter's car, mainly because it's a HUGE faff to organise V5s and proof of ID for someone who doesn't live with us any more, and who says, in that infuriatingly whiny but ultimately irresistible way; 'Daaaad. I don't know how to do this. Can you fix it for me pleeeeease?'

Off topic - what's new! "Daaad".
Our youngest is about to buy her first house, hopefully exchanging contracts this week. So the conversation went "Dad, will you come and help us move (out of the rented cottage), oh and before we unpack everything it might be nice to do a bit of decorating. I'm working sorry but could you quickly paint lounge, kitchen, hallway and bedroom. Thanks Dad".
I know how we have kids but does anyone know WHY we have them?

Apparently the main reason we have children is so we can have grandchildren
