Campsite Toilet Roll Holders.

Campsite toilet roll holders and dispensers. They come in all shapes and sizes supplied by a multitude of manufacturers.

They are all designed so that the toilet roll/rolls sits under and inside the dispenser and the width of the sheets has been reduced to only about 3", is of a very thin guage and comes on very large rolls. That means that it takes many minutes to try and find the end of the roll up inside the dispenser because it is so thin that it clings to the roll and when you finally find it and give it a gentle tug, one sheet comes away in your hand because the roll is so heavy it doesn't revolve easily.

They are also fixed in some very strange positions on the wall, often too low and also right alongside your shoulder so that you have to turn through 90% to get at them.

The main thing they have in common is THEY DON'T WORK

Now Apple Tree Farm had the right idea. About 3 sets of double coat hooks fixed around the walls (handy for hanging your towel before you go to the shower) and each coat hook has a normal toilet roll hanging on it. Simples.

Quite a few continental sites have the drum shaped dispensers with a central hole through which you pull out the tissue. Of course if the tissue jams or snaps they are useless!

The eribaMotters household has solved this problem. We carry our own domestic sized loo roll, and if the free stuff is available and the apparatus works then it's a bonus.
I believe Hymer back in 2007 recognised this problem and considered an optional extra to convert the rear mounted spare wheel carrier being offered on some vans. The idea was considered good for large families and club rallies.Unfortunately they did not continue with the idea as I expect they thought the contents would get wet, just like the contents of some poor folks front gas lockers. They could have solved this with a recall to replace the rubber seals, as is currently being done to some of the newer improved German built vans.

We have found some interesting loo rolls in French supermarkets. Instead of a hollow cardboard tube in the middle of the roll there is a mini-roll with its own paper wrapper; ideal for taking to the toilet as a ‘just in case’

Colin, Hymer’s new owners may reconsider........

You realise that there'll be a toilet paper width and strength spec. test for all sites that are candidates for an Eribafolk Meet in the future.

Just spent a long weekend at Dornafield site near Newton Abbott. They have 2 normal toilet rolls side by side, regularly topped up......and........they.....are

The only downside is that the double width holders are just where you want your left shoulder to go while cornering (so to speak)
