Fridge on/off switch

Hello fellow Eribanauts,
We have a mid 90's Puck and although the fridge works perfectly I notice that the on / off switches do not illuminate but am uncertain if they are supposed too?
I am sure they did on similar fridges I have had in similar aged campervans. Just thought I would run it by the experts on here before I start prising the switches off to look for failed bulbs, etc
Any advice or tips gratefully accepted,
Jezz

Do you know what Jezz? I can't remember when running on gas but certainly while on lecci the green one should glow on 240v and the red one should glow when towing.

Mine does not light up either but I know some people put tape over it as it keeps them awake, so I left mine as is.

Roger is correct. Green switch should light when on EHU but red switch should only illuminate when caravan is attached to car.

On some outfits, the red light will only glow once the engine is revved above a certain rpm. With some later cars, the red light will come on with the ignition turned on even without the engine running.

I assumed they should illuminate but just wondered if the fridge was a budget model that didn't. I will look into sourcing some new switches then. It is reassuring to see a light and have some certainty things are working. Thank you all for your help :)

Before you panic it may not be illuminated on the Puck. Our PuckL fridge didn't illuminate and I know of another PuckL owner (the late great Hampshireman) whose PuckL fridge didn't have illuminated switches. When we upgraded to the Triton we discovered what the dreaded green light was. So it may not be necessary to rave things out, the switches may never have illuminated. A bit of research maybe amongst other Puck owners?

I wasn't aware that some models have fridges with non-illuminated switches. It seems like taking centime-pinching to a new low when a light gives a positive indication that the switch is or is not receiving current, thereby simplifying trouble-shooting.

It was only by noticing that the red light did not come on when van and car were hooked up with the ignition on that I realised I had a problem and that led to the replacement of a failed fridge relay and, more recently, replacement of a blown 15A fuse.

The more modern ones don't have the lit switches, but do have an interior light, I think one of the reasons the outer lit switches were discontinued is people complained they were too bright at night, I just stuck a piece of tape on mine.

Dave are you suggesting that Hymer listened to customer feedback and removed the illuminated switch? Wonders will never cease

My 2000 Puck L does not have illuminated fridge switches, had from new, so I know this is standard !!!! Hope this helps Jezz :) . The illuminated switches are coloured and transparent, but the non illuminated are coloured and opaque - so you can identify ones that should light up !

Interesting, mine don't look transparent, ie one is red and one is green. However they do show a glimmer of light when in operation.
