We used both beds in our Triton 418 the front is a full sized single without having to use the extension, I got that end and Phil had the big double at the back.

(She's for sale)

Climbing is the problem! We like to share a double bed - cosy! Can you sleep longitudinally in the Troll 540? We could probably crawl out the end with the advantage over the 542 of the option of using the table on the odd occasion we might need to.

The Pontos still comes out on top with side access to the bed so thank you for all the advice for our search.

The rear end of the 540 is a big dinette that offers you two longish single beds where you sleep along the van, or the opportunity to make one very big double and sleep along or across.
I believe owners sleep along the van in one of two ways, head at window end where I guess it is easier to get out but not sure how you would sit up to read, or feet at the window end meaning you have better back support for sitting up and reading but more difficult to get out.

Mrs B and I are heads under the window people... And a little trick we discovered last year was to use two single duvets rather than a double which meant no tugging at the other's half of the bedding and getting out of bed in the middle of the night, if needed, becomes a less 'disruptive' action...

Thanks - that could be an option if the Pontos is too difficult to find.
