'Wana be' Eriba Owner

Hello Eribafolk,
Just joined Eribafolk - been caravanning for years but totally new to Eriba's. Have been looking at them for a while now, we couldn't make our minds up as to conventional van or Eriba. However went for a Deffleths Rally Nomad 470 and now realise we should have gotten the Eriba, We have a large garden but a challenging drive, the Dethleffs is a tad to wide and we have to remove the gate to get it in and out and as we are getting on in years it takes the shine off of 'getting away'. The Eriba 530/540 seems to be the way to go, so if anyone has one for sale we would be very interested, probably around 2009 - 2010.

Chris & John

Eribafolk - Hello just to let you all know that we are now very proud owners of an Eriba Troll 530 Forever Young. Can't wait to get away for a weekend for a trial run to see how we get on; although it will probably have to be after Christmas now, as so much to do

Hi both and welcome to Eribafolk. Narrow access, a common problem. Don't forget though that some newer Trolls are 2100 wide and not 2000.

Although we don't use our Eriba for "getting away" it's the perfect van for doing so once you've calculated what you really need to take.

We use ours for long hauls and again. once you've established what you need to take and found a space to stow it, The Eriba is so much fun.

Another new "Wana be". Studying all the options but just love reading all your comments and views - very helpful. After 30 or more years with folding caravans we are looking for something more suited to our age and condition - both us and the caravan!. Eriba owners we know are universal in praise but the only model that ticks all the boxes (an island bed for ease of exit for our old bones) seems to be the Pontos which is in short supply. Still early days of looking and we'll keep checking this site for latest tips and a good read.

Bevill,
the only Pontos I can find is on Markplaats site, which at euro 17,000 is a bit steep. It does however have a mover and very good Unico awning.

Well spotted that man. it's being sold by these people https://www.caravanextra.nl/caravans/eriba/ which is an easy drive from The Hook of Holland.

Interestingly, they list a freezer as an extra.

Wow that was quick - sounds ideal thanks guys. We'd realised we might have to go across the channel but not quite this soon but thanks for the contacts - we'll keep an eye on those sites for after Xmas.

If you are prepared to venture abroad then it is also worth looking here:-https://www.speurders.nl/overzicht/?no_qs=True&query=eriba
With the now weak pound prices are not attractive as they once were, [In 2007 I bought from Belgium at nearly 1.5 euro to the pound] but he range of vans available is greater and the condition tends to be very good due to different regulations on service/testing/taxing of vehicles.

Thanks Colin - sounds like a good place to look. Will search in earnest in the New Year - when seas have calmed!

As a note of encouragement, I bought from Holland like Colin as well (also when the £ was stronger) and it was an easy, straightforward process. I just took a GB sticker and a spare number plate for my tow vehicle plus an adapter for 7 to 13 pin electrics just in case and that was it!

Good luck with your search!

PS - I would start your search now and keep a record of what you come across. I logged them all in a spreadsheet along with the URL of the advert, so I could always find it again. That meant I had a really good idea of availability and likely prices and was ready to pounce as soon as I found exactly what I was looking for.

hth...

Very interesting to read your post. We had much the same issues as the double beds do not work if you are like us and have to visit the bathroom during the night. Climbing over one another is not an option. However the Troll 530 has a double either end, albeit one is slightly smaller than the other but problem solved as the plan is to have a bed each. If a Pontos had become available we would have had a look it was on our list of options, as you say though in short supply. The Troll 550 was another option as long as it had the double dinette. I'm loving this Forum friendly and loads of information.

We decided on using both beds on our 530 a few years ago and wow, what comfort. One double bed and one big single.

It only takes a matter of minutes to convert both beds back to dining/living spaces.
