Kampa Pop Air Pro - sneaky fix for 2019 not mentioned in brochure

From another post many of you will know of my saga with this awning. To cut to the chase it is very good on lower height Eriba's and to my mind the best option. On later Eriba's it is very nearly very good, but some of us have had issues with it pulling out of the awning track. In my case it went back to kampa and was finally returned to Lowdhams of Nottingham for a full refund.
If you look on the Kampa website the 2019 model has now come in line with there other caravan awnings and has the option of a zip on front canopy and an annexe. The big difference though comes when you check the photographs. They have extended the fabric at awning rail height by about 100/150mm [I'm guessing] so it wraps around the front and back of the van. This extension in length continues down to ground level. It appears the fabric is drawn around the front and back of the van to resist the pull out some of us have experienced. If you compare my photo to those in the link you may get my drift.

Has anybody experience of this later version on a post 2010 van?

If this had been on my original purchase I would have not have returned it. So annoying.

Hi Colin.

I've scanned through the last few months of posts on Facebook and the only one I can see is this one. I think the lady who owns it has only tried it out on her drive.

I've asked the question of her and anyone else however.

Thanks Roger, it will be interesting to see any replies that come through on this. I've had nothing back from Kampa but will try again this week. The usually helpful awnings department at Lowdhams Nottingham [who I originally purchased from] were in the dark about the changes.

Hi Colin. I've had a reply and a pic from the lady in question.

Zitat
Jill Greenfield:- Bought in December and described as 2019 model. We are using it now, in Sussex for 3 months. So far so good, no issues with weather. Except I forgot to put that plastic rain guard thing on first and now can't place it. Tried several times , given up.

Thanks again Roger, it will be interesting to see how Jill gets on long term. Kampa got back to me:-
"We have changed the way that the awning connects to the vehicle. It now has elongated sections on both sides to help keep it in the rail and have made some other changes to the structure to alleviate pressure. This should resolve any issues and I have not heard any reports of otherwise at this time."
The new brochure also mentions an extra tube, but I'm guessing this means over other pop-air models in the 2019 season as opposed to previous model version of this specific awning.

The "plastic rain guard thingy". According to Jill, she's only experienced a light dribble of water coming through the awning rail in the worst of storms. That suggests that this awning is as tight as our Clairval where we have never used a plastic thingy.

Anybody bought one of these 2019 models yet for a post 2010 van and ready to give feedback .
Roger, do you know how Jill Greenfield got on with hers as it appeared she was going to use it for three months.

We will be trying out our new Pop air pro 340 on our 2015 Triton 420 as soon as we get a good couple of days weather. Will report back.
