Buying in holland using Marketplatz

Hi All
We are thinking of buying a used troll540 of market platz in Holland. To us they seem a bit cheaper, for a rough and ready guide we could get
a 2003 for the same price as a 1999 over here, thats buying of a private sale not a dealer. Has anybody got any tips about buying of Marketplarz
for example when I buy of Ebay I always use a sniper, its much easier and better than just bidding.
So any tips on Marketplatz much appreciated, I think there is also another Dutch auction site but cant remember the name of it.
There is lots of info about buying in Holland, on this and other Eriba forums, its bidding tips and strategies we are interested in
Regards Woody

Buying from the Continent has reduced dramatically from the frenzy about 7 or 8 years ago when the Euro/£ variance was very much in our favour.
Even then very few were purchased privately and a lot of Marketplatz Eribas are Classified ads rather than auctions. That all means that you'll be very lucky indeed to find anyone who has purchased in the way that you are pursuing and certainly the numbers of people doing so will, I fear, probably not generate much in the way of tips or strategies.

Hi SDA
It looks to me that a lot of vans are in a auction, down the right hand side of the page there is a column for bids, even some dealers are taking bids.
Maybe buying new there is not much difference in price I dont know I have never worked it out but used there is, on the model and year we can afford maybe a couple of grand, that will do me! plus there seems to be more choice over there.

I'm no expert Woody but the one thing to remember when buying from the Netherlands is that most if not all Dutch vans will not have a battery pack fitted. Therefore you will be totally reliant on camp site hook ups. This, I presume, is part of why the prices are lower over there.
Our van was imported from the Netherlands some years ago and the battery and equipment was fitted over here we think, although we've never camped anywhere that doesn't have an EHU so don't really need it.

As far as I can see there are eight Troll 540's on the site. Two of which are dealers advertising new and the remaining at least three of the others are dealers and possibly three are private but they don't seem to have to flag up that they're dealers as they do in the UK so you can't be sure.
A UK supplied '01 540 should sell for about £9,000, an '02 for £9,500 an '03 for £10,250 and '04 for £11,000 and an '05 for £12,000 as private sales. Expect a dealer to charge about £1,000 more. All of these being core prices with condition, extras and/or lack of facilities adding or subtracting from the value.
The '04 that's on Ebay at present looks to be 'Piccolo's' immaculate old van that he sold to a couple in The Wirral a few months back. There can't be many 540's with an electric Omnistor awning fitted.

The other dutch auction site is www.speurders.nl
Just like on www.marktplaats.nl you can find eriba's from private persons as well from caravan dealers
