The spoon trick!

I've heard about using a bent spoon to lift up the bag for a caravanstore that's fouling the door. But ..... I don't actually know how it works. Can anyone who has used this trick explain exactly how and where the spoon goes (or bendy bit of metal). The OH is trying to cobble together a support for the bag and I mentioned the "bent spoon". "How does that work" he asked, at this point I had to admit total ignorance. Please can anyone tell me the secret so I can restore myself in my hubby's eyes

If you have the three brackets fitted to your awning track/rail for the "old fashioned" framed awnings then you are in luck. You stand the spoon in the middle one over the awning light and it holds the Caravanstore bag up out of the way of the door.

Footman loop uses a spoon or other ‘flat’ ended thingy.
If you have the hole type then fashion a tent leg or similar.

Aah, thanks Tony. I may have been misled or I may be misunderstanding but that looks like it holds the bad up when it's closed. The problem we have is when the caravanstore is up/out, then the bag falls down and blocks the door. At the moment I've been using clothes pegs, sort of works but not ideal/permanent/classy.
Neil is making cake which he will be bringing to the Spring Meet, possible bribery and corruption to encourage you (and others) to come and show this daft female how this all works. If you are worried about calorific value of cake, it's low, gin and tonic is even lower and could be available.

As regards your drooping bag. I had limited success with stick back Velcro. A few short lengths inside the droopy bag to grip on matching pieces underneath the extended canopy.

I also used Velcro to hold the lower bag flap up. This time I’m going to try magnets.
On the newer Eribas the gap from door frame to awning rail is wider so it’s easier to get the flap up but on our older model it’s all a bit tight.
Also sticking anything to the Caravanstore material requires careful preparation, such as abrasion and cleaning ‘cos it’s very reluctant to be stuck. 😄

I don't believe the gap is any bigger on newer vans. I would say if anything it's smaller.

I got the wrong idea then Colin.
Must have been just my impression that I found it easier to tuck the bag up than my older Eribas.
